Lao-Tzu Allan-Blitz, MD
Chief Medical Resident at Brigham and Women's Hospital
Dr. Allan-Blitz is the chief medical resident for the Doris and Howard Hyatt Residency in Global Health Equities. He is completing clinical training in internal medicine and pediatrics though Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Boston Children’s Hospital, and his Master’s in Public Health through the Chan School of Public Health. His work specializes in equitable care of resource-limited communities with a particular focus on infectious diseases, sexual and reproductive health, and public health issues facing both adults and children.
While earning his MD from the David Geffen School of Medicine at University of California, Los Angeles, he also completed a year-long NIH funded research fellowship in Peru studying sexually transmitted diseases among vulnerable communities. He has established research and clinical collaborations in Botswana, South Africa, Lesotho, Madagascar, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Malawi, Rwanda, Mexico, Peru, and Australia, which are ongoing. He is also working to develop cost-effective, novel point of care diagnostics for sexually transmitted pathogens.
