Supervising Epidemiologist in Los Angeles County Department of Public Health

Mirna Ponce Jewell, M.P.H., M.A., is a Supervising Epidemiologist in the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health for the Viral Hepatitis Unit. She received her Master’s in Public Health from the UCLA School of Public Health, Department of Epidemiology and Master’s in Arts from UCLA Latin American Studies.

Ms. Jewell’s academic interests and work have included efforts in infectious disease prevention, harm reduction and mental health. With over 15 years of experience working at the County, Ms. Jewell has a wide variety of experience across chronic and infectious diseases. She is particularly interested in issues related to racial/ethnic and gender disparities.
