Project Connect: Bridging the Gap Between Hepatitis C Diagnosis and Care in LA
Hepatitis C Virus (HCV) is a significant public health problem nationally and in Los Angeles County (LAC). In Los Angeles County (pop. 10M) there are around 45,000 or more HCV RNA positive cases based on hepatitis C case reports through 2018. Most of those cases remain untreated, even though HCV is now curable with new direct acting antivirals (DAAs). Major racial and ethnic disparities among LA County residents in accessing and receiving treatment remain.

In collaboration with the Hepatitis Unit of the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, we will develop a case management protocol and train a team of volunteer student case workers. We will reach out to cases of Hepatitis C infection to educate, recommend treatment and help with linkage to treatment
